The clients were eager to turn their beloved duplex in historic Church Hill into a profitable Airbnb that sleeps 12 guests. Taking inspiration from the world just outside their doorstep, the birth of ‘The Richmond Home’ came alive. A significant part of the design plan was bringing local art, giant murals and comfortable gathering spaces that reflected the love they have for historic Richmond Virginia.

This one-bedroom home is a hidden gem tucked away in the sprawl of urban Richmond City. This home sat vacant with many opportunities for renovation before we designed it. The clients were eager to take inspiration from Cuba’s lively and vibrant culture for their AirBnB property. We played with color throughout the entire home to allow the guests to embrace a carefree getaway. Both bathrooms were fully renovated from top to bottom without compromising it’s historic home status. In the kitchen we kept the original floors and gave the kitchen cabinets a fresh coat of paint. As with most historic homes the staircase was narrow so we gave them a face lift with Spanish inspired tiles and a custom railing designed by PLD Design Studio. The outcome of this home is a place that transports you to another world.

Situated in the enchanting Mountain side of Mount Jackson, Virginia, this 3 story log cabin was designed to sleep 21 guests for their Airbnb investment property. The materials were selected to embrace and express exposure to the outdoors, becoming one with the surroundings. The outcome is a place of gathering, relaxation and connection with the land.
